David McCann lives in Raytown, MO. He joined the Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War, Westport Camp #64, on 01 May 2007, signed by Brian Smarker, Camp Commander. David McCann is retired after serving 20 years of Active and Reserve time in the United States Naval Reserve. He retired as a Personnelman First Class. Dave also retired from the Sheet Metal Industry after forty-four years of service.

Ancestry: Lewis Duncan McCann, Company G, 37th Regiment, Missouri Militia; Enrolled 11 August 1862 at Lincoln County, Missouri, by Captain Ball. Ordered into active service on 8 April 1863 at Troy, Missouri by Colonel Parker. Honorably Discharged 10 September 1863 by Colonel Parker.

Lewis Duncan McCann (son of Neal McCann and Mary (Shrum) McCann) was born about 1824 in Warren County, in the State of Missouri; died after 1883, and is buried at Audrain County, Missouri. He married on 28 November 1844, in Warrenton, Missouri to Mary Ann Johnson; born 22 October 1825 in North Carolina. She died 12 October 1882 and is buried at Audrain County, Missouri.
